1. Purpose of this Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how ZeroPointOne Ventures Ltd, operating SchoolTickets.org.uk ("we", "our", "us"), uses cookies and similar technologies on our website. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

Company No. 17398629.
Registered office: Collingwood Buildings, 38 Collingwood Street, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 1JF.

2. What Are Cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They are used to enable functionality, maintain security, and improve the user experience. Cookies can be:

  • Session cookies: temporary cookies deleted when you close your browser.
  • Persistent cookies: remain on your device until they expire or are deleted.

3. How We Use Cookies

We use our own cookies strictly for essential website functionality and security. We do not use our own marketing, advertising or analytics cookies. Stripe also uses cookies and similar technologies for payment security and fraud prevention, as explained below.

(a) Essential / Functional Cookies

These cookies maintain secure organiser sign-in and protect requests that submit or change information. Ticket purchasers do not need an account, but can also receive security cookies.

Cookie NamePurposeTypeDurationWho Receives ItProvider / Recipient
__session and related sign-in cookiesIdentifies the organiser's login session to maintain authentication between pages.Persistent (essential)Session and expiry settings controlled by the sign-in providerOrganisers and other users who start a sign-in session; not set just for anonymous browsing or purchasing.SchoolTickets.org.uk (ZeroPointOne Ventures Ltd), with Clerk as sign-in provider
csrf-tokenProtects against cross-site request forgery during form submissions.Persistent (security)4 hours from when set or renewedTicket purchasers and signed-in organisers when the site requests a security token before submitting or changing information.SchoolTickets.org.uk (ZeroPointOne Ventures Ltd)
schooltickets-helperKeeps an invited door helper signed in to scan tickets for one event.Persistent (essential)Until the event code's displayed expiry: two hours after the event end, or 26 hours after its start when no end is set. Disabling or replacing the code ends access earlier.Helpers who explicitly join using an event code in their browser.SchoolTickets.org.uk (ZeroPointOne Ventures Ltd)

These are first-party cookies sent back to this website. They are HttpOnly, so page scripts cannot read them, and are sent over secure HTTPS connections in production. Closing your browser does not necessarily delete them. Disabling them may prevent secure forms, organiser areas and helper scanning from working.

(b) Stripe Payment Security

We load Stripe.js when you open a ticket-booking or payment-confirmation page to provide secure payments and fraud prevention. It is not loaded on an initial visit to the homepage or policies. Once loaded, Stripe may continue operating as you navigate within the same browser tab, and its cookies may remain until they expire or you remove them.

Cookie NamePurposeTypeDurationWho Receives ItProvider / Recipient
__stripe_midRecognises a browser to help Stripe assess transaction risk and prevent fraud.Persistent (payment security)1 yearVisitors whose browser loads Stripe.js, including ticket purchasers and organisers.Stripe
__stripe_sidIdentifies a period of browser activity to help Stripe assess transaction risk and prevent fraud.Persistent (payment security)30 minutesVisitors whose browser loads Stripe.js, including ticket purchasers and organisers.Stripe

Stripe.js can set cookies on this site's domain and use storage on Stripe-controlled domains. Stripe receives the related fraud-prevention signals. The cookies listed above are common Stripe security cookies, not an exhaustive list for every payment method. Additional cookies or storage may be used by Stripe, Link or a bank when you choose a payment method or complete authentication; their names and lifetimes depend on that service. Browser settings may block or shorten storage.

See Stripe's Cookie Policy and cookie names and durations for provider-controlled storage, and its Stripe.js privacy explanation for fraud-prevention use. These links also cover Stripe's own websites; their advertising cookies are not a list of cookies used by SchoolTickets.org.uk.

(c) External Sign-in

Organiser sign-in is provided by Clerk. Clerk uses cookies to maintain your session and support secure sign-in. Any identity provider you choose may also use its own cookies on its sign-in pages, under its own notices and expiry settings. Sign-in cookies are not needed by purchasers who do not sign in. See Clerk's Privacy Policy.

(d) Similar Browser Storage

In the older ticket purchase flow, pendingTickets in local storage keeps pending ticket details, purchaser email and event references so the purchase can be completed after a payment redirect. It is stored in your browser for this website, read by our purchase pages and submitted to our service to complete the order. It is not a cookie and is not automatically sent with every request.

pendingTickets is removed after successful ticket creation. Local storage has no automatic expiry: if a purchase is abandoned or fails, it may remain until it is replaced by another purchase or you clear this site's browser data. The newer purchase-order flow does not create this item.

(e) What's New preference

If you dismiss the What's New bar, we store the announcement version in local storage under schooltickets:whats-new:bar-dismissed. This remembers your choice on this browser, including after signing out. It contains no personal information and is not sent to our servers. It stays until you clear this site's browser data; a new announcement may show the bar again. You can always reopen What's New from the footer.

4. Cookies Not Used

We do not use our own:

  • Analytics or tracking cookies (e.g. Google Analytics).
  • Advertising or profiling cookies.

Logged-out visitors and parents buying tickets can receive the security and Stripe cookies described above. They do not need an organiser login cookie to buy tickets.

5. Managing Cookies

Most web browsers allow you to control or delete cookies through their settings.
You can also clear this site's local storage by deleting its browser site data.
If you disable cookies or browser storage, organiser sign-in, secure forms or payment completion may not function correctly.

For guidance, see www.aboutcookies.org.

6. Updates

We may update this Cookie Policy if we introduce analytics, security enhancements, or new site functionality. Any updates will appear on this page with an amended "Last updated" date.
